SheSails Water Event - afternoon sail 26 Oct
Details
Event information
We invite our women sailors to join us on 26 Oct - Saturday afternoon sail 1.00pm departure till 4.00pm. Please RSVP - 'first registered then first on board' as we have limited boats. Meet at CYC Boat Shed at 12.45pm to allocate which boats and aim to leave the dock by 1.00pm. We will have boat owners onboard their vessels with SheSails crewing and at times helming. We will head out for a fun sail determined by the breeze and skippers. Bring water, sunsafe clothes and hat.
What to expect sailing a yacht is different from a leisure cruise and like most water sports, is considered a Dangerous Recreational Activity. Sailing can be hard work, both physically and mentally. Vessel manoeuvres happen frequently, which will cause the boat to heel from side to side and heave to and fro. Sailing is fun!! But it can also feel hectic (and therefore stressful) at times.
When joining SheSails as a sailing crew member, you are signing up to actively participate in sailing the boat. This involves tasks such as - Moving safely about the deck of a moving yacht. The deck is likely to be heaving & slippery while underway. - Assisting with raising, lowering, and trimming the sails. This involves pulling or winching lines (ropes) with your arms and back, and gripping lines with your hands - Actively listening & following directions at all times and stay calm. (and especially if there is an emergency!!).
- Please help us keep everyone safe by letting us know if there is any reason you may be unable to undertake these tasks while aboard.
Please note there will be a charge of $20 for CYC members & $20 plus sail pass of $25 for non-CYC members for the event to cover insurance. There will be no refunds for non attendees - this will be considered a donation. Please RSVP to the event so we know how many to expect and can allocate sailing experience amongst the boats.
Please remember if you are a non CYC member you need to fill out your sail pass for this event however your payment has been taken here with your registration, so please don't double pay. :-)
