SheSails Skills Building Program - on water

Event information

This event is sold out.

This program is for women of all ages who have some sailing experience and who would like to improve their keelboat skills as crew and/or as helms. The aim of the program is to increase women’s participation in sailing, to refine their skills and develop their competence and confidence as cruisers or racers.

The program is run by qualified instructors and/or experienced sailors to deliver a structured and progressive program. One or multiple sessions can be booked, however for continuity, it is highly recommended that participants book for two consecutive sessions.

Mentoring in the sessions will focus primarily on developing practical sailing skills, utilising the CYC J24 training boat. The focus topics will vary from week to week, covering all aspects of sailing and crew work. We hope to also run ‘Master Classes’ and extension programs, facilitated by expert coaches, depending on availability and interest.

If you already have sailing experience, this is an opportunity to further develop your sailing skills and confidence and, if you choose, to move from a crew role into a skipper/helm role. For Club members, the program provides a pathway to represent CYC at a variety of both women’s and open regattas locally and around the country. Sorry – no refunds.  This is an all-weather program: if it’s not possible to be on the water, classroom sessions will be substituted.
