Cairns Yacht Club celebrates being part of the Cairns community for the past 111 years and opens its doors for the community to come and try sailing Saturday 6th April 2019.
Cairns Yacht Club is inviting the community to enjoy a free sailing experience as part of National Discover Sailing Days. People can attend by themselves or with a partner, friends or family to get a taste of what sailing is all about.
The aim of Discover Sailing Day is to encourage people to find out how much fun, safe, accessible and affordable sailing can be. Cairns Yacht Club Commodore John Pool encourages people to pay the club a visit on April 6th. “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to welcome the community to our club and our sport” he said. “We encourage anyone who has ever wanted to try sailing to come and have a look and enjoy a sail with an experienced club member or instructor. “We provide all the instructors, boats and safety equipment, so all you have to do is come along prepared for a good time with a hat and some sunscreen.”
Discover Sailing Day offers you the chance to go for a short sail with an experienced sailor, enjoy the club’s facilities, and find out about the great sailing courses available. There are courses for young and old, aspiring sailors and experienced sailors. The whole family can get involved – kids as young as five can enjoy a sail with a parent or guardian. “Our Discover Sailing Host can answer any questions about sailing and our volunteers will ensure you have an enjoyable day at the club.” “We recommend people book in advance to ensure they can get out on the water, but you can also register on the day.”
Discover Sailing Day is part of Australian Sailing’s Discover Sailing program, which was launched in 2012 and designed to encourage more people to get in boats, out on the water and enjoying the benefits of sailing. You can register for a FREE sailing experience at Cairns Yacht Club by contacting Margie on 40312750 or email@example.com For more information about sailing and different types of courses available, visit cairnsyachtclub.com and http://www.discoversailing.org.au

Sailors with a disability are now called Sailability Cairns and the facebook page is named the same. Anyone can join…. Just view the Facebook page and ask to join.
The program provides opportunities for people with a disability to discover sailing as recreation, or as a competition outlet and skills development program. Volunteers also learn a range of skills to support the program.
Sailors and volunteers are asked to join the group and check in on the designated training days, so appropriate arrangements will be in place before we begin (generally at 3.00 pm.), on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week..
All participants and volunteers are reminded that this is an alcohol and Drug free program for the duration of each event
Please be advised that the Sailability Cairns Raffle which was due to be drawn 3rd June will now be drawn 24th June. Get in and buy your tickets…this is a wonderful opportunity to support such a worthwhile program to go ahead with their plans to purchase a SKUD Universal Design Performance Sailing Vessel. There are fantastic prizes on offer from our generous sponsors at Quicksilver, Great Adventures Rainforest Station Nature Park, Skyrail & the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary.
